Located in the booming South Lake Union neighborhood, 2201 Westlake/Enso turns heads with its boldness. The building was to incorporate four separate and distinct uses with minimal structural obstructions in large open floor plans. The structural engineering team responded with an innovative framing solution that involved two different framing systems for all four occupants. The result was an elegant, efficient, and cost-effective structural system that exceeded all expectations.
2201 Westlake/Enso encompasses a 12-story office building and a 19-story office/condominium tower. The interconnection of floors one through five allows for as much as 39,000 square feet of space on a single floor. Condominium floors utilize a unique drophead slab design developed by CKC. This eliminated the majority of interior columns, providing open interior space and dramatically improving design efficiency.
The project received four notable national awards, including 2011 Silver Award from American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) and LEED Gold certification.
