Mark Whiteley is a Senior Principal at Cary Kopczynski & Company (CKC). Mr. Whiteley has nearly 30 years of experience designing a wide variety of significant high-rise and mid-rise projects throughout the United States. He has experience in the design of all major structural systems, having designed many buildings with conventionally reinforced concrete, post-tensioned concrete, and structural steel systems in both high seismic and high wind regions. Mr. Whiteley has designed several high-rise towers on the west coast requiring performance-based design. He has also been involved in advancing the innovative use of high-performance steel fiber in reinforced concrete coupling beams in high-rise projects. Mr. Whiteley has also managed a substantial number of peer review and expert witness projects where his expertise was put to use by clients in need.
Mr. Whiteley has received multiple Presidents' Awards from the Structural Engineers Association of Washington (SEAW) for his outstanding leadership and service. He has served as a board member of the Seattle chapter of SEAW for 3 years. He also served for 14 years as an instructor for SEAW's structural engineering refresher course for engineers preparing to take the Structural Engineering Licensing Exam, and 10 years as the refresher course Committee Chair. Mr. Whiteley joined CKC in 2005 after practicing structural engineering in Houston, Texas for ten years. He received a BS and MS degree from Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah.
