Mountlake Terrace Transit Center
Parking Structure

Mountlake Terrace, Washington

Featuring five levels of open and efficient parking, the Community Transit parking structure in Mountlake Terrace adds convenience for commuters. Opened in February 2009, the Transit Center connects local, commuter and regional bus service.

The garage is constructed of cast-in-place post-tensioned concrete. A long span framing system provides column free parking. Ductile frames were used for seismic resistance in the east-west direction, eliminating shear walls and maximizing sight lines. Structural durability was enhanced through use of custom designed mixes which reduced slab shrinkage during construction and minimized porosity of the hardened concrete. An internal ramping system using sloped parking bays provides an intuitive circulation loop through the garage. A structural steel skybridge connects the garage to the freeway bus stop.

The facility received Green Globes certification for sustainable building features such as solar panels, electric vehicle charging stations and energy efficient lighting.
