1001 West Chicago
A large apartment and retail project is planned for the site of the former Gonnella Baking Company in Chicago’s River West neighborhood. 1001 West Chicago, currently in design, will include two mid-rise towers featuring 360-unit apartments atop 32,000 square feet of ground level retail and subterranean parking.
The north tower will be 12 stories tall and south tower will be 14 stories tall. Both buildings will have an amenity deck/green roof. The development is set to include 300 parking spaces, 200 bike parking spaces and a large pedestrian-oriented landscaped plaza. A small skybridge will connect the two towers.
The building will be constructed with cast-in-place concrete with posttensioned slabs. Shear walls will resist wind loads.
